Who We Are

Middle Tennessee Christian School provides a faith-based, college preparatory education for students in grades PK3 – 12. High academic standards, a Christian-centered environment, and opportunities for creative and social development help our students become well-rounded, self-disciplined, responsible individuals who make good life choices and contribute to the growth and development of their family, church, and community.

A family of Christ followers, we challenge one another to embrace God’s calling on our lives, live in service to Him, and grow every day in faith and knowledge.

What We Believe
Middle Tennessee Christian School is grounded in core Christian principles. We affirm God as the Father and Creator of the universe and Jesus Christ as His Son. We believe the Bible’s teaching that Jesus was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, was crucified, buried, and resurrected. We affirm the divine inspiration and authority of the Bible and the church as the body of Christ.

Our Commitment to Faith and Heritage

We welcome students from all backgrounds, and it is our purpose that all grow like Jesus – intellectually, physically, socially and spiritually. We affirm Ephesians 2:10: “For we are God’s workmanship created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God has prepared in advance for us to do.” We challenge students not just to complete the grade or the curriculum but to recognize and value these good works and lead lives of productive service in the home, the Church and the community. Although our programs for students end with the completion of high school, the skills learned, the principles instilled, and the faith developed impact their lives forever. We are training for eternity!

Mission Statement

History

Middle Tennessee Christian School provides a Christ-centered, academically rigorous education in a nurturing environment that prepares and encourages students for lifelong learning and service in God’s kingdom.

Middle Tennessee Christian School was organized in 1960 and received its charter from the State of Tennessee on December 9, 1960.

“The building and maintenance of a school and or schools to provide educational opportunities . . . particularly the teaching of the Bible; to provide a minimum of one class period per day of instruction in the Bible as the inspired Word of God for every child enrolled and to emphasize the Bible in every course taught; to provide for Christian influence and environment in every phase of the school’s activities.”

A 25 acre campus was purchased on Lebanon Road near the airport and the first students were accepted in the fall of 1962. MTCS operated as an elementary school with kindergarten through eighth grade until 1975. At that time the Board of Directors made the decision to add one grade a year until a high school was complete.

In December of 1978, we received full accreditation by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, and in 1979, the first senior class graduated from MTCS.  Thirteen acres at the north end of MTCS Road were acquired in 1999 for the development of baseball and soccer fields.

The Charlene Waldron Library was built and dedicated in 2001. Over the years, we purchased a preschool building and constructed a state-of-the-art gymnasium. Legal ownership of MTCS is vested in a self-perpetuating Board of Trustees composed of persons who are members of Churches of Christ.
