MTCS Fine Arts encourages students across all grade levels to explore their God-given creativity, develop their talents, and inspire others through the power of the arts in four impactful areas:

Spotlight on Our Programs
VISUAL ART
Preschool and elementary school students enjoy weekly visual art classes. Middle and high school students may choose to take a daily visual art course as an elective. Mediums include:
- Clay
- Charcoal
- Pencil
- Mixed media
- Collage
- Acrylic paint
- Oil paint
- Marker and colored pencil
- Watercolor
- Chalk pastel
MUSICAL ART
Weekly music classes are an integral part of our preschool and elementary school programs. Elementary Choir is available for students in grades 3-5.
Beginner Band is available to students in grades 5-6. Middle school students may choose Band and/or Choir as a daily elective class. High school students may choose to enroll in Band and/or High School Choir as daily elective courses.
MTCS Choir and Band students audition for local, regional, and state honor groups.
Cougar Jazz Band is an audition-only ensemble open to students in middle and high school. The group performs in the stands at MTCS football and basketball home games. A new drum line will be an exciting addition to the Cougar Jazz Band next year.
THEATER ART
MTCS has an exciting and vibrant theater program for students interested in the dramatic arts! Students in grades 6-12 participate after school to prepare for various school productions.

Elementary School
An after school theater program is available to elementary students interested in performing in annual school plays. Practices, auditions, ect. occur outside of the school day.

Trivia Night Fundraiser
The annual Trivia Night is a special fundraiser benefitting the MTCS Fine Arts Program. This year’s event featured amazing performances by our Elementary Choir and Cougar Jazz Band. The MTCS community really stepped up to show their appreciation and support through their incredible generosity. The event raised nearly $16,000, doubling the proceeds from the previous year.
MTCS Expands Fine Arts Department
We’re proud to announce the appointment of Katie Frazier as the Director of Fine Arts. This newly created position aims to unify, enhance, and promote the amazing work already ongoing in this area.
MTCS is excited to add this layer of leadership to its administration team to ensure that the fine arts program continues to grow both within the school and across the fine arts community in Middle Tennessee, leaving a lasting impact on these talented students and advancing the kingdom through their unique gifting from the Lord.
A native of Decatur, AL, Katie Frazier holds a Master of Arts in Music Education from Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU) and a Bachelor of Arts in Music Education from Harding University. With nine years of experience teaching general music and band full-time, followed by 10 years as a freelance musician, Katie is well-prepared to lead the department into a new chapter of growth and creativity.
New Choir Director Joins Fine Arts Team
Mr. Benjamin Meador joins the MTCS Fine Arts Department as Choir Director. He recently finished his collegiate studies in vocal music education at Lipscomb University. During his undergraduate studies, Benjamin gained teaching experience through a variety of school, ensemble, and camp settings. He performed in several ensembles with artists such as Andrea Bocelli, Amy Grant, Cece Williams, Cody Fry, Colton Dixon, and more.

New Choir Room
Beginning this fall, all middle and high school choir classes will meet in our new choir room. The dedicated space features acoustical treatment, choir risers, an upright piano, and more enabling the middle and high school choir students to further fine-tune their talents.
