Show
The
MTCS Art Department will present its 2nd annual Art Show on May 12th
through May 16th. Art work from Art I, II, III, and Studio Art
students will be displayed in the commons area.
High
School Baseball
Congratulations
to the high school baseball team for placing 2nd in the District 9A
tournament held at MTCS this week. They have earned themselves a
spot in the Regional Tournament which will be played next week. Good
luck, guys!
Kicks
for Christ Soccer Camp
Coaches
Lawrence Goodwyn and Rick Chambless will conduct a summer soccer camp for
boys and girls ages 7-12 on June 30th through July 4th, 2008 from 9:00
a.m. to 12:00 noon. Applications
turned in before June 1st will be eligible for a discount as well as a

runners-up category in the Sertoma Club’s Freedom Essay Contest. Harry
will be recognized at a banquet where he will be awarded a $2000
scholarship.

awards for the Middle Tennessee Electric Membership Corporation’s annual
essay contest. They will each receive $100.

Good
things are happening with the MTCS band program! Congratulations to
Mrs. Katie Frazier and all 4 band groups (5th grade, 6th grade, junior
high, and high school) who received Superior ratings recently at the
Solo/Ensemble event in Eagleville. This is the highest rating
possible and is a great accomplishment for these talented musicians.

Success
on the Diamond
Congratulations
to Coach Todd Hickey and the junior high baseball team on their successful
season. The
team finished the season with an outstanding record of 15-5 and finished
2nd in the district tournament. Team members are Blake Arender, Steven Barker,
Stephen Brent, Trey Hill, Cameron Metcalf, Keith Pickard, Hunter Rindahl,
Ivey Starling, Patrick Cruz, Caleb Gibson, Brent Hofbauer, Ryan Hood, Seth

Library
Books
As
the end of the school year approaches, parents are reminded that all
library books will need to be turned in before final report cards can be
issued. Please check your child’s room, backpack, etc. for any
outstanding books. If you are unsure as to what books are still
checked out to your child, please contact Mrs. Edmonds as soon as
possible.
Cheerleading
Clinic
The
Cougar varsity cheerleading squad will be sponsoring a cheerleading clinic
for girls in Pre-K through 6th grade on May 20-22 from 12:30 p.m. until
2:00 p.m. Cost is $40 and includes a clinic T-shirt.
Participants will learn new cheers and have the opportunity to perform
those cheers and a Cougar high school football game. Deadline for applications
is May 18th.
Stars
in the Making
Congratulations
to Mallory and Morgankate Trammell for winning their divisions in the
weekly Kentucky Opry "You Can Be A Star" Search in Benton,
Kentucky. Mallory (8th grade) won the junior vocal division (ages
13-16) for April 5th. Morgankate (6th grade) won the beginner vocal division (ages 9-12) for the
week of March 8th and competed in the semi-finals on May 3rd, placing in
the top 3. Good luck to you as you compete against the beginners, juniors
and adults on May 10th at the Grand Finals!
Spring
Development Council Banquet
MTCS
is pleased to announce that John C. Maxwell is scheduled to speak at our 2008
Development Council Banquet on May 13. John C. Maxwell is an
internationally recognized leadership expert, speaker, and author who has
sold over 13 million books. His organizations have trained more than
2 million leaders worldwide. Dr. Maxwell is the founder of EQUIP and
INJOY Stewardship Services. Every year he speaks to Fortune 500
companies, international government leaders, and audiences as diverse as
the United States Military Academy at West Point, the National Football
League, and ambassadors at the United Nations. A New York Times,
Wall Street Journal, and Business Week best-selling author, Maxwell was
named the World's Top Leadership Guru by Leadershipgurus.net. He was
also one of only 25 authors and artists named to Amazon.com's 10th
Anniversary Hall of Fame. Three of his books, The 21 Irrefutable

copies. This is scheduled to be the first event in the new MTCS

following the Spring Development Council Banquet on May 13th. For more

Camp
Hy-Lake
Camp
Hy-Lake 2008 is scheduled for May 25th through 30th for campers entering
the 4th through 12th grades next fall. Applications
and camp fees were due by May 2nd, but applications turned in before May
9th will require a $25 late fee. NO applications will be accepted
after May 9th. Due to staff and facilities, no more than 100 campers
will be accepted on a first-come first-served basis, so secure your spot
early. Applications
for Camp Counselors are also being accepted. Contact Adam Coggin

Costa
Rica Trip
Mrs.
Mariana Eddy and Mrs. Anne Harper are organizing an educational trip next year to Costa Rica.
The trip would last 7-9 days and would take
place in late June/early July 2009. Participants who reserve their
space and pay the enrollment fee early can take advantage of 2008 prices
before they go up in the summer. An informational meeting will take
place on Tuesday, May 20th at 7:00 p.m. in Mrs. Harper's classroom for

Pancake
Breakfast
The
Lady Cougar basketball teams (Varsity, Junior High and Cougar Cubs) will
be having a Pancake Breakfast Fundraiser on Saturday, May 10, 2008 from
7:30 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. at Applebee's (2896 S. Rutherford Blvd.,
Murfreesboro -- next to Wal Mart). The cost per ticket is
$5.00. Please see any Lady Cougar for tickets. Thanks for your

Basketball Camp
Coaches
Jason Piercey and Dan Wilkerson will conduct a basketball
camp from 12:30 p.m. until 3:30 p.m. on May 20-23 for boys and girls
in grades 2 through 7. Cost of camp is $80 and includes a camp
T-shirt. Those registering by May 12th will receive a camp T-shirt
