Trap Team Dominates

Our trap team dominated the American Trap Association's AIM (Academics, Integrity, Marksmanship) State Shoot last week, capturing championship trophies in the Sub-Junior (Ages 12-14) and Pre-Sub (Ages 11 and under) categories and runners-up trophies in Pre-Sub and Junior (Ages 15-18) categories.  As for individual awards, Ashley Swift tied for High Lady but lost in a shoot-off by one target.Garrett Sweeney won Sub-Junior A class and Sam Mathis won Sub-Junior D class. Sam won in a shoot-off by running a perfect 25 in his first box. In the most dramatic shoot-off of the day, Braden Smith narrowly edged out K.J. Davis for Pre-Sub runner-up. K.J. finished with third. Their shoot-off lasted two boxes!  Out of our 28 shooters, 14 shot 180/200 or better (90%). That is amazing! Those shooters were: Brad Black, Garrett Sweeney, Ashley Swift, Sam Mathis, Taylor Bolin, Matthew Swift, Spencer Roberts, Franklin Roberts, Will Brown, K.J. Davis, Braden Smith, Carl Mathis, Hunter Vaughn, and Paul Batey! Several shooters had their personal best scores.   Ashley Swift shot her first 99 and K.J. Davis shot his first 98 while running his first 50 straight. Sam Mathis and Garrett Sweeney also added 99's while Taylor Bolin had a 98. Braden Smith shot his best with a 96. Brad Black and Matthew Swift kicked in 97's.  Our top five shooters combined shot an amazing 493/500.
