HEADLINES: Basketball Homecoming Court Congratulations to the following students who will represent their classes in homecoming activities on Saturday, January 7: Kailee Marasco and Nathan Smith (7th Grade); Elizabeth Wisdom and Kenny Nguyen (8th Grade); Erin Mullins and Peyton Cox (9th Grade); Erin Jennings and Clayton Mitchell (10th Grade); Olivia Rynd and Taylor Sanders (11th Grade); and Julia Howard, Rachel Young, Damara Praseutsinh, and Keith Pickard, Micah Farmer and Andrew McMahan (12th Grade). Football players named All-District Congratulations to Steven Barker, Stephen Brent, Keith Pickard, Parker Richardson and Justin Winn for being named to the 9-A All-District football team. Receiving honorable mention were Gavin Burgess, Kyle Howard, Britt Roberts and Dakota Vaught. Wreaths available for pick-up Thanks to all those who purchased wreaths to benefit MTCS. The wreaths are available for pickup now at the Santa’s Trees lot on Memorial Blvd. in front of the airport. A bow is included with each wreath. If you have already picked up your wreath and did not pick up a bow but would like still like one, they are available at the lot. Magazine Pre-Sale begins Although our magazine sale does not officially begin until February 24, there is no need to wait until then. Pre-sale packets went home with students last week so sales can be made at any time. Online shopping is always available at www.qsp.com. The first turn-in day will be February 27. Santa’s Secret Shoppe shop to open The Patrons’ Association will open its annual gift shop for the PK-6th grade children to purchase holiday gifts for family and friends. The shop will be open December 6-8, Tuesday and Wednesday from 8:00 until 3:00, and on Thursday from 8:00-11:30 a.m. Parent volunteers will help the children budget their money, make their selections, and wrap their presents. Band/Chorus to present Notes for the Holidays Please join us on Sunday, December 11th at 2:30 p.m. in the A.N. Miller gymnasium for our annual Notes for the Holidays concert, featuring the junior high and high school bands and choruses. Admission is free. Grandparents Day Please join us on Wednesday, December 14 at 8:30 a.m. as our Pre-K through 6th grade students perform holiday songs to honor our grandparents. Seating begins at 8:00 a.m. in our new gymnasium. Grandparents are invited to visit their grandchild's classroom after the program. High School Drama production announced Our high school drama department will present Into the Woods, Jr. on March 8 and 9, 2012. Auditions for the play will be held Monday, December 5 and Tuesday, December 6. Click here for more information. Intro to Engineering program offered UT Knoxville’s College of Engineering will host a series of summer enrichment programs entitled, “Intro to Engineering.” Rising 7th through 12th graders are eligible. This award is given to youth for volunteer work. If a student is selected, he/she can receive $1000, a silver medallion, and a trip to Washington DC next May. Ken Shipp Scholarship is available for a student who will graduate in 2012 and plans to attend MTSU.The minimum required grade point average is 2.75.
