Junior Beta member places in competition

Congratulations to Freshman Shelby Richardson for taking 3rd place in the Language Arts competition at the Junior Beta Club convention in Nashville on November 21st and 22nd.

Trap Shooters meeting scheduled

Mr. Mathis has scheduled an informative parent meeting for the evening of December 8th at 7:00 p.m. in the cafeteria to answer questions about the upcoming trap season and to meet new shooters. Please plan on attending if your student has any interest in participating in Trap this next year. Please contact him (rmathis@mtcscougars.org) if you plan on participating in Trap, but cannot attend the meeting. The only stipulation for participation is that the student be at least 10 years old and has completed the hunter safety course. If your student is interested in participating but does not meet one of those two requirements then please let Mr. Mathis know. Practices begin in January and competition will be held in March, April, May and June.  Click here for more information on our trap program.

MTCS Night at Parent-Teacher Store

The Murfreesboro Parent-Teacher Store will hold a Support MTCS Night on December 1st from 4:00-8:00 p.m.  Coupon holders receive a 20% discount, and MTCS receives 10% of that evening’s sales.  Coupons are available in the office.

UTC announces the Grote Chemistry Scholarship Program - $3,500 per year for 4 years.  Eligible majors include all chemistry, biochemistry, UTEACH, pre-medicine, and pre-dental majors.  Go to www.utc.edu/chemistry and follow the scholarship link.  Deadline is February 15, 2012.

AXA Scholarship - 1.3 million available.  AXA Achievement Scholarship - apply by 12/1 and AXA Achievement Community Scholarship - apply by 2/1 both @ www.axa-achievement.com.

Scarlett Family Foundation Scholarships are available for Business majors.  Apply at www.scarlettfoundation.org.  Deadline is 12/15/11. 

Prudential Spirit of Community Awards. This award is given to youth for volunteer work.  If a student is selected, he/she can receive $1000, a silver medallion, and a trip to Washington DC next May.  Interested students should visit http://spirit.prudential.com to apply.

Ken Shipp Scholarship is available for a student who will graduate in 2012 and plans to attend MTSU.The minimum required grade point average is 2.75. The student must exhibit good moral character and have financial need.
