Did you know? … 15% of the seniors of the MTCS class of 2010 scored 30 or greater on the ACT, placing them in the top 3% of the nation. HEADLINES: Thelma Harris Service Day a success On Friday, September 2nd, MTCS held its annual Thelma Harris Service Day, named after our beloved Mrs. Harris who devoted her life’s work (1966-2010) to serving here at MTCS as an elementary teacher and librarian. On this day each year we honor a servant from our community who has embodied the Christian virtue of service, by awarding them with the Thelma Harris Service Award. This year’s recipient was Mr. Bill Stewart, for his service to MTCS and for being a true example to young people for over 50 years. After the presentation, our high school students divided up into groups and spent the morning working at various locations around town, including the Domestic Violence Shelter, Murfreesboro Parks and Recreation Department, Pregnancy Support Center, Greenhouse Ministries, YMCA, Special Kids, Boys and Girls Club, Journey Home, NHC, MTSU, Stones River Manor, Franklin Heights, and Second Harvest Food Bank, as well as our own campus. Our students did an outstanding job in glorifying God by serving others. Thanks go out to Mr. Rick Chambless for organizing this event.
