Honduras Mission Team pancake breakfast a success

Thanks to all those who supported our Honduras Mission Team by attending the pancake breakfast last week.  With your help, they were able to raise $2,600 for their trip to Tegucigalpa in early October.  Blue Coast Burrito will sponsor an MTCS Night on August 18th from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. Just mention that you are there for the MTCS Mission Team and Blue Coast Burrito will donate 10% of the sale to the mission effort.   In addition, a Spaghetti Dinner, catered by Marina’s, will be held in the cafeteria on August 19th from 5:00-7:00 p.m. before the 1st football game of the season to benefit this effort.

Orders being taken for MTCS 50th Anniversary book

This year marks the 50th anniversary of Middle Tennessee Christian School. In order to commemorate this historic event, Jason Faulkner has committed to writing a history of MTCS.  If you would like to pre-order a copy of the History of MTCS, you may do so by contacting Jason Faulkner (jasonfaulkner@mtcscougars.org) or Debbie Hofbauer (debbiehofbauer@mtcscougars.org) at (615) 893-0602. The book should be available by the second week in November.  Cost is $25.00, and checks should be made payable to Jason Faulkner.

Trap Team has strong finish in Sparta, IL competition

Congratulations to our trap team for their outstanding performance at the AIM Grand Championships in Sparta, IL on August 6th and 7th. In individual competition, recent graduate John Mankin shot his first ever 100 straight on Sunday to give him a two day total of 198 targets out of 200. He was awarded the A-class champion award, finishing 4th overall out of 500 competitors. Senior Ben Black also shot a perfect 100 on Sunday and finished with a 196, just out of the awards. Freshman Brad Black shot a 99 on Sunday and ended up with a 196 overall. Senior Trey Hill shot a 197, and 7th grader Nathan Smith shot a 185, which was 7th overall for his age group. The High School #1 squad finished as B-class runner-up and 6th overall by shooting a 964 out of a possible 1000 targets. This was quite an accomplishment since over 85 squads participated in their age category. The Junior High Squad finished as B-class champions and 8th overall out of over 65 squads in their category. The second high school squad finished third in their class. Our elementary squad finished just out of the awards but ended up 6th overall in their age category. Way to go!
