We are excited to see everyone again and look forward to a great 50th year. We are blessed to begin this special year with 120 new students and 5 new faculty/staff members. Please take the time to welcome them into our family and show them what makes MTCS so special.
Merchants offer SCRIP bonus percentages
Several merchants are offering bonus percentages on SCRIP gift cards for a limited time. Please take advantage of these special offers and get a head start on earning credit toward next year’s tuition. The new percentages will continue through the following dates. Honduras Mission Team to hold fundraisers
The members of our Honduras Mission Team, composed of 25 upperclassmen and adults, will travel to Tegucigalpa, the capital of Honduras, on September 30, 2011 and will return on October 5, 2011. To help fund their trip, they are requesting your support of the following events. Thursday, August 11, 2011 -- A Pancake Breakfast will be held from 7:00-8:00 a.m. in the cafeteria. Cost is $5 for JH/HS students (includes casual day), $4 for adults and $2 for elementary students.
Thursday, August 18, 2011 -- Blue Coast Burrito will sponsor an MTCS Night on August 18th from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. Just mention that you are there for the MTCS Mission Team and Blue Coast Burrito will donate 10% of the sale to the mission effort.
Friday, August 19, 2011 -- A Spaghetti Dinner will be held in the cafeteria from 5:00-7:00 p.m. before the 1st football game of the season.
JH Volleyball team to participate in fundraiser
Our junior high volleyball team will be selling AVON products in order to raise money for needed supplies and equipment. Contact Shannon Watson (shannonwatson@mtcscougars.org) for more information.
Softball/Baseball athletes receive honors
During the summer break, junior Kyle Howard for being named to the Daily News Journal's All-Area Baseball Second Team for 2011. Receiving honorable mention were senior Ivey Starling and recent graduates Charlie Fraser and Jacob Herring. Junior Devan Welker was named to the 2nd team softball, and junior Ashley Swift received honorable mention.
Elementary football program still accepting registration forms
Our elementary football program is still accepting registration forms for the 2011 season. Boys and girls in Pre-Kindergarten through 6th grade are invited to participate. Forms for players and cheerleaders should be turned in to the business office as soon as possible.

Varsity Girls Soccer Parent meeting to be held
Coach Goodwyn will hold a meeting for parents of the varsity girls’ soccer team on Thursday, August 11th at 6:00 p.m. in room 201.
School pictures to be made this week
Tri-Star Photography will be on campus Wednesday, August 10th to take school photos for all grades.

Cornell University is offering two programs from the College of Engineering – Fall Diversity Hosting Weekend and the Women in Engineering Program. Both programs will take place September 29-October 1, 2011. Applications are due Monday, August 29, 2011.
