Hickey honored
After 10 years of coaching Middle School Baseball at Middle TN Christian School, Coach Todd Hickey will be retiring after this season.  He was honored on Friday night after the high school baseball game, surrounded by current and former players.  We are thankful for Coach Hickey’s dedication to these young athletes over the years.

Colton Dixon homecoming
MTCS is planning a homecoming for alumnus Colton Dixon on Saturday, May 26th.  We are still in the planning stages, so nothing is definite yet.  Colton is still under contract with American Idol, who is completely in charge of his schedule at this time.  We will let everyone know as soon as we have more information.  Mark your calendars for August 12th, when American Idol Live will be at Bridgestone Arena.  Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. May 11, through Ticketmaster at www.ticketmaster.com or by calling 1-800-745-3000.

Junior High Baseball
Congratulations to our junior high baseball team who finished their regular season with an 11-4 record. They finished in first place in the Middle Tennessee Independent Baseball league with a 10-2 record. They begin their tournament at Clarksville Academy later this week.  Good luck!

High School Concert Band
The MTCS Concert Band performed for the TMEA State Concert Festival at TSU on April 25th, 2012 and received very positive feedback from the judges.  Straight superior ratings at MTSU on March 6th, 2012 resulted in an invitation to State Festival.  Only 34 bands from the entire state were accepted!  No ratings are assigned in this festival; instead, three nationally-recognized band directors provide comments on each band's performance on stage and then one judge goes with the band into another room to work with the band in a small clinic setting.  This is the first year in school history that the High School Band has been invited to the State Festival, and we are very proud of their accomplishment!

Band Solo/Ensemble Honors
On Saturday April 28th, MTCS band students participated in the Solo/Ensemble Festival at Eagleville School.  These students achieved Superior or Excellent ratings and will receive medals:  Dylan Bowman, Camden Marasco, Steven Barker, Reed Haley, Martin Moore, Lauren Jennings, Heather West, Shelby Richardson, Rachel Mullen, Alayna Petty, Bryce Richardson (2 Superiors), Addison Boyle, Jessica Farmer, Mason Sowder (2 Superiors), Estrela Shear, Autumn Jamison, Hallie Cary, Mathew Holley, and Andrew McMahan.  Congratulations!

All-State Basketball Honors
Congratulations to sophomore Derrick Spears for being selected to the Tennessee Sports Writers Association's All-State Basketball Team.

Track and Field Championships
Congratulations to senior Micah Farmer for taking 1st place in the 800 meter race at the Rutherford County Track and Field Championships on Tuesday, April 24. Micah's winning time was 2:05.1.
