Invention Convention

March, 2006

 

 

Each of our 6th graders was asked to create an invention that fell in one of the two categories:  games or making life easier.  Mr. Sabir, Mrs. Mankin, Mrs. Haley, and Mrs. Cooper were asked to judge the inventions and pick the top 3 in each category.  Janie Harper was our tie-breaking judge.  At the school these were the winners in each category.  Games:  #1 Math Scrabble – Adam Parker, #2 Who Wants to be Class President? – Ivey Starling, and #3 What Um Do 6th Grade? – Hannah Wright     Making Life Easier: #1 Night Rider – Cristian Thomas, #2 Mail Light – Austin Gaydosh, and #3 The Amazing Dog Washing Brush – Kayla Hickey.  These students then went on to compete at MTSU against 6th graders from 28 schools in the region.  The winners from our school were:  #1 in the Making Life Easier category – Austin Gaydosh, Judge’s Favorite for the Making Life Easier category – Kayla Hickey, and #2 in the games category – Hannah Wright.
