Grandparents'
Day
December 2006
Thanks
to all those who attended and help to make Grandparents' Day another great
success. Our students did a wonderful job entertaining those
present. Special thanks to Mrs. DeHoff, Mr. Sharpe, and Mrs. Hickey
for the time they put into organizing the program. Throughout the
morning, several special grandparents were recognized for various
reasons. Mrs. Gloria McIntyre, grandmother of 5th grader Savannah
McIntyre, came the longest distance to be here, traveling over 1500
miles from Ontario Canada. Our youngest grandparent in attendance,
Rodriguez Rodriguez, belonged to Kindergartener Thalya Sanchez and
was only 45 years old. The grandparents who had been married the
longest were Mr. and Mrs. Wymer Wiser, grandparents of 9th grader Hannah
Wiser and 4th grader Ellis Wiser. The Wisers have been married for
an admirable 61 years. Our oldest grandparent at a spry
86-years-old, was Mr. Gene Meier. Mr. Meier also received double
recognition as one of the grandparents with the most grandchildren
attending MTCS. Mr. Meier is the grandfather of Kirstie Pelletier
(6th grade), Kelsey Pelletier (6th grade), Collin Pelletier (3rd grade),
Brianne Pelletier (11th grade), Quentin Parker (5th grade), and Rebecca
Parker (11th grade). Mrs. Freida Watson was also recognized in this
category and is the grandmother of Ashley Watson (7th grade), Jordan
Watson (9th grade), Forrest Watson (6th grade), Heath Watson (10th grade),
and Taylor Watson (9th grade). Mr. and Mrs. Harry Middleton were
recognized for making MTCS a family affair. They are the
grandparents of Killen Middleton (9th grade), Alexa Middleton (5th grade),
Cassie Anne Starling (9th grade), Ivey Starling (8th grade), Oakley
Starling (5th grade), and Darcey Starling (1st grade). They are also
the parents of Tena Starling, one of our secondary teachers and Michael
Middleton, one of our board members and freshman boys' basketball coach,
as well as the parents-in-law of Celeste Middleton, assistant of our
junior high girls' basketball team.
