ELEMENTARY HAPPENINGS
November 9, 2007
The 6th
graders enjoyed reading The Cay in Joyce Rucker’s class and
learning about the historical events taking place during the time of its
setting. Check out their
reports posted in the elementary hallway about the book.
In 3rd grade math, regrouping to “borrow” to subtract is one
thing, but regrouping a number that has already been regrouped is a whole
new concept for our third graders! Carolyn
Wooldridge does an amazing job teaching her students how to do this by
physically trading counters of hundreds, tens, and ones.
What are they? They are
turkeys camouflaged in costumes in hiding so they won’t be someone’s
main course for Thanksgiving dinner! Check
out these cute creations that the kindergarten students did as a home
project (on display now in the hall)!
