ELEMENTARY HAPPENINGS
September 25, 2009
If
you have not been to a high school football game and watched our marching
band perform, you are missing out!
Katie Frazier, with the assistance of her husband, Shawn Frazier,
have done an amazing job leading our band to the next level.
They have sharp uniforms and sound terrific!
And it all begins in elementary band class.
These kids learn so much in such a short time that it is quite
amazing! Take time to come to
their concerts during the year. It
will be time well spent!
Games for fun… and learning!
That’s what our teachers often do to keep the students involved
and make learning fun. Vicki
Kennedy recently played “Dial a Sum” where students from two
teams had to take turns using spinners on the overhead to find two numbers
for creating addition sentences. Then,
they practiced addition, commutative property, and greater than, and less
than using their sentences. It
was a hit with her 2nd graders! Also, John Webb played “Math
Baseball” with his 6th graders to review the math unit.
The student “at bat” got a hit if he finished the problem on
his dry erase board before the student on the opposing team.
If the opposing team got it correct first, then the student at bat
was out! The kids were begging
to play more innings! They
loved it!
