ELEMENTARY HAPPENINGS
September 14, 2007
Students in Mary Webb’s 4th
grade classes created acrostics from their names, using each letter in
their name to tell something about themselves.
Linda Cooper’s 5th grade science classes have been making “foldables” to show
the cell division process in one and the plant fertilization process in
another. Students illustrated
each step on a flap. Under
each flap, students had described what was taking place in that step of
the process. They did an
excellent job!!
Vicki Kennedy’s 2nd graders have been busy collecting items for Magi boxes for needy
children about their age. These
will be sent to
South America
to arrive near the Christmas season.
Dr. Joyce Rucker had her 6th graders read certain portions of
Luke’s account of events and compare them to Matthew’s account of
those same events. They
figured out that Luke (being a doctor) described the healings that Jesus
did in more detail, where Matthew (tax collector) was more “matter of
fact.” They were able to see
how events can be described from different perspectives...even in the
Bible!
