- In
2011, our kindergartners scored in the top 12% of the nation in Pre-Reading
Skills on the Metropolitan Readiness Test. In math,
their scores were in the top 13% of the nation. These scores
indicate that our kindergarten program is one of the top programs in
our nation at preparing youngsters for first grade.
- Scores
on standardized achievement tests taken in grades K-8 indicate that
our students average around the 77th percentile, which
means they are in the top 23% of the nation.

Almost
60%
of our fourth and fifth graders from the 2010-2011 school year qualified for the Duke University's Talent
in Progress (TIP) talent search for fourth and fifth graders by
scoring at or above the 95th percentile (top 5% nationwide) on the
subtest sections of the Stanford Achievement Test that access
higher order thinking skills.
This program is designed to identify gifted students and motivate them
toward future successes.

One member of the Class of 2012 was recognized as Commended Students in
the 2011 National Merit Program.

ACT
scores range from 1 to 36. The class of 2011 had an average ACT
score of 23.8, more than four points above the state average. Twelve seniors in the class of 2011 scored 30 or
greater on the ACT placing them in the top 3% of the nation.

MTCS
is now offering three dual enrollment programs through Motlow State
Community College. Students can earn 6-12 hours of college credit
as well as high school credit for the courses they take.

In
the
Class of 2011, 64 Seniors were awarded over $3.1 million in
academic scholarships and
grants from various colleges and universities. In the Class of
2010, 48 Seniors were awarded almost $2.9 million in scholarships.
