In
2009, our kindergartners scored in the top 9% of the nation in Pre-Reading
Skills on the Metropolitan Readiness Test. In math,
their scores were in the top 10% of the nation. These scores
indicate that our kindergarten program is one of the top programs in
our nation at preparing youngsters for first grade.

Scores
on standardized achievement tests taken in grades K-8 indicate that
our students consistently score around the 78th percentile, which
means they are in the top 22% of the nation.

Almost
50%
of our fourth and fifth graders from the 2008-2009 school year qualified for the Duke University's Talent
in Progress (TIP) talent search for fourth and fifth graders by
scoring at or above the 95th percentile (top 5% nationwide) on the
subtest sections of the Stanford Achievement Test that access
higher order thinking skills.
This program is designed to identify gifted students and motivate them
toward future successes.

of our 46 seventh graders from the 2008-2009 school qualified for the Duke
Talent in Progress (TIP) test by scoring in the 95th percentile
(top 5% nationwide) or higher on their Stanford Achievement Test.
In 2008, 12 students took the test, 8 received state recognition at Vanderbilt
University, and 1 received grand recognition at Duke University for their exceptionally high scores on the Duke TIP
test.

Two
members of the Class of 2008 were recognized as Commended Students in
the 2009 National Merit Program.

ACT
scores range from 1 to 36. The class of 2009 had an average ACT
score of 23.9, which is around the 77th percentile (top 23% nationwide
of college bound seniors). Three seniors in the class of 2009 scored 30 or
greater on the ACT placing them in the top 3% of the nation.

MTCS
is now offering two dual enrollment programs through Motlow State
Community College. Students can earn 3-6 hours of college credit
as well as high school credit for the courses they take.

85%
of the seniors in the MTCS Class of 2009, who applied to state colleges or
universities qualified for the Tennessee Education Lottery's Hope
scholarship which is based on a minimum ACT score of 21 or a
minimum GPA of 3.0.

In
the
Class of 2009, 40 Seniors were awarded almost $2.4 million in
academic and athletic scholarships and
grants from various colleges and universities. There were 7
students in the class who signed to play athletics in college. In the Class of
2008, 42 Seniors were awarded over $2.6 million in scholarships.
